Improved Aesthetics with Teeth Whitening and Tooth-colored Fillings

One of the most effective ways to improve our smiles is with teeth whitening. This can conveniently be added to a routine dental hygiene visit, and it can safely lighten teeth by several shades. Dr. Zaino uses a system called Opalescence Go which causes minimal sensitivity and only takes about 30 minutes per day to complete.

Another way to add aesthetics to smiles is with the use of tooth-colored fillings, also called composite resin fillings. Composite resin is used in several ways to restore beauty to teeth. They can treat tooth decay with an undetectable filling that is matched in color to the shade of the tooth enamel. Many people also replace existing silver fillings with composite resin for an improved appearance.

Composite resin is also an excellent way to treat discoloration, chips, and cracks in teeth. It securely bonds to teeth and matches identically in color.

Enhancements with Partial Crowns and Crowns

Zironia and EMAX crowns are another option for adding a dramatic enhancement to smiles. They can be used to protect teeth with extensive damage after root canal therapy, or some patients elect to use crowns to cap several of their teeth for a durable and lustrous appearance. Patients collaborate with the doctor on their preferences in color and shape of their crowns. The porcelain shines like natural enamel and is matched to surrounding teeth.

Porcelain Veneers for Dramatic Appeal

Porcelain can also be used to create veneers, which are wafer-thin shells that the dentist affixes onto the fronts of teeth. Most people treat the six-to-eight most visible teeth in the upper and lower jaw and the result is a dramatic transformation in the aesthetic of teeth. Veneers treat discoloration, gaps in teeth, minor appearance of misalignment, misshapen and undersized teeth. Patients also give input on the shape and color of their veneers so they reflect their individual taste.

Beauty Options after Tooth Loss

Perhaps the greatest impediment to a pleasing smile is the gaps that result from tooth loss. Whether it be one tooth, a row of teeth or a full arch of teeth, there are several ways you can restore beauty after tooth loss:

  • Dental implant restoration provides a permanent anchor for a beautiful porcelain crown. Crowns are life-like and designed with the patient’s input. Implant restorations provide the full function of a tooth, and they secure the health of the jaw.
  • Fixed bridges are two or more porcelain crowns cemented onto neighboring teeth that have also been encased with a porcelain crown. These are a permanent restoration that beautifully matches neighboring teeth.
  • Dentures and Partial Dentures are removable prosthetics that rely on adhesives or metal clasps to remain secure in the mouth.  They are made of a beautiful acrylic and provide many of the functions of natural teeth.
